THE LOVE STORY
Sometimes love is found in the most unexpected places. When Marlayna left San Diego for a small town in South Dakota to further her education, the last thing she expected to find was the love of her life.
Dane, born and raised in South Dakota, didn’t have much in common with Marlayna besides their shared enrollment in the same nursing program, yet despite their differences or perhaps because of them, they found themselves drawn to one other. Dane and Marlayna would wind down from studying together, and within weeks their friendship transformed into a loving relationship.
Together they strengthened their bond by sharing their hobbies. “We balance each other out. One day we’ll be hiking or camping, and the next we’ll be going to a concert or lounging on the beach.”
After four loving years, it was finally time to pop the question.
“We were at a White Elephant Christmas party and both our numbers were at the end, mine being just before Dane’s. I picked up a little green box with a red bow and inside was an engagement ring! Dane got down on one knee and asked to spend the rest of our lives together.”
THE PERFECT DAY
Knowing they wanted to share a Catholic ceremony with all their friends and family, their search for the perfect venue ended in Marlayna’s home state of California. “We got married at the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside. We loved the Mission because of its rich history and beauty. The Pacific Views Event Center was perfect for our reception because it had a beautiful view and offered a big ballroom for our many guests!”
“Out of all the special moments, my favorite was seeing Dane’s face at the end of the aisle. He was speechless and I could just feel the love radiating from him.” For Dane, other than seeing his lovely bride walk down the aisle, his highlight was being able to bring all their friends and family together to share their big day and witness their eternal vows to one another.
